© paul willaert (Kate - Hull decembre 2008)

My name is Kate.
I'm twentyfour.
I live in London but my parents are from York.
At this moment I work for a fashion company and I like to carry on that.
I like to buy a big house with a nice big garden and things like that.
It is important to me to be financially stable and to be able to buy a house and have a family if I want without too many worries about money.
I am currently living away from my family and my boyfriend to pursue my career. I will probably do so for some years as there are no jobs in my proffesion near my family home. I would however like to move back nearer there later in life.
My family have inspired me greatly in their attitude towards life and their ethics, also my boss when I was working in York was a very inspirational woman who had created her own very sucessful business from nothing and was a very interesting character.
My relationship with my parents is very important to me. I am very close to them, however I think I will end up having a very different career to them. I also think that my life style will be very different.
I am in a relationship which I have been in for five years, for the last two we have been living in different cities but I think that this sometimes helps our relationship as you appreciate the time you spend together. Although sometimes this is difficult. I think that the coming years will be hard for our relationship as my career keeps me in London.
What do this words mean to me?
Wealth: to be comfortable and to be able to live the lifestyle you desire.
Freedom: freedom of speech and to be able to express myself as i wish and to follow the path that i like.
Independancy: I think that this is linked to the other words, I feel that you need some wealth to be independant and also you need the freedom to follow your own path.

note: I remember Olof was very friendly and keen on doing this interview. His radiation impressed me very much. All of a sudden his parents appeared. Olof's mother expressed anxiety and asked me about my intentions. I explained her about my project but felt I could not fully reassure the careful mom. Cause of this interruption our concentration was as good as gone. However Olof (and his parents) agreed to let me take his portrait. The interview was too short but I found the portrait much compensating.

My name is Olof.
I'm born in 1990. I am eighteen.
I will become a mediadesigner.

© paul willaert (wenduine - april 2009)

When I was young, my family used to travel to the beach on the Maryland or Delaware coast for week-long summer vacations. I remember seeing towers, smaller and not as impressive looking as this one, scattered along some of the less developed coastal areas. Those towers that I remember seeing from the back seat of a moving car as a child in the seventies had been built during the second world war as submarine lookout posts. Anyway, that's the first thing that came to mind when the photo loaded on my laptop screen.
I really like this one a great deal. The light is is just beautiful.

My name is Laurence.
I'm on my seventeenth.
I live in Ramsgate.
I want to become an architect... would like to draw my own buildings.
My parents are very good to me... joking around with them very much.
My dad is quite inspiring to me.
I think a relation could enrich my life... yeah, it could motivate me more and give me energy.
I can describe myself as being playfull, joking around, but I can't get on with my work.
I can't do what is needed.

My name is Tim. I'm sixteen.
I'm studying sciences.
I want to be a worldtop monocyclist.
Most of all I want to be happy.
Friends, family, relaxing, sports and honesty are the most important things in my life.
I don't mind where to live in the future... however i would love to stay where I grow up.
I'm inspired by some famous monocyclists whom I admire.
My parents are a great inspirational source to me.
I think it's very important to have a good relationship with your parents.
A good understanding with your parents can avoid much problems.
My parents have a real estate office but i don't know yet if I will do this.
I have no girlfriend for now.
I'm sure a good friendship could enrich my life, it could be simply enjoyable too.
Prosperity to me means: friends, relaxing, sports, to have everything i wish.
Freedom means doing whatever you want to do, being free, taking time to relax...
Independence means to me not being limited by all kinds of rules.
I find monocycling to be a most enjoyable, challenging and original sport through which I can distinguish myself from others.
