i like how the man with his hand in front of his mouth / his chin (the cliche of careful thought) stares off (almost as if distracted) toward his left, while the woman before him (are they sharing a table, from this angle i just can't tell) appears to be staring off in the opposite direction. it's just one of a number of diagonal lines crisscrossing through this passing moment, this stolen frame. and is that by chance your shadow, paul?
is everyone is this scene wishing someone else was there with them (or simply that they themselves could be somewhere else).
